The quartz stone family is extremely large and varied. Some of the more famous members include amethyst (purple quartz), citrine(yellow quartz), smoky quartz (black), rutilated quartz (quartzes with other minerals growing inside them), as well as all the various agates and jaspers. Quartz may be found worldwide including many Canadian locations.  

Clear or white Quartz is often found in crystal form and is the most often sought after for its healing or crystal properties.  Among the most sought after of the clear quartzes are the phantom quartzes. A phantom quartz is defined as a quartz that has another ghost image of a crystal inside the original crystal. These “phantom” crystals are highly sought after by collectors for their beauty and scarcity. Sometimes iron (green inclusions) create amazing phantoms, other times phantoms may be a ghostly white. Scientists theorize that during formation other minerals may have been present that caused the inclusions, or that alternating times of slow and fast growth of the crystal may be responsible for this unusual phenomena.

Quartz is said to receive, activate, store, transmit and amplify energy.  It is also said to be an emotional balancer as it dispels negativity.  It is the stone used most often for meditation.  Phantom quartzes are supposedly more powerful when used for mediation.
